APICE SHORT HISTORY

APICE was born in April 1990 from the two promoting partners' passion for electronics.
Firstly the company started to deal with the industrial automation of textile engines, motorized panels with robots for welding and moving of automatic warehouses.
The main will of partners was the creation of a trade-mark on the market; so, that was the reason why the Research and Development department implemented, in 1992, the first intelligent terminal equipped with a keypad, a display and a magnetic cards reader, whose introduction was made on the occasion of Sicurezza 1992 fair in Milan.
That was only the starting point of the Apice specialization in the access control business; as the time went by, the products range was enlarged with new additional terminals, management softwares and accessories, and more advertising campaigns on sector magazines were made.
In 1994 the Research and Development Department started to investigate on current standards for the connection of access devices inside a building. The reason of this research came from the awareness that, in order to build up an access control system, it was enough to extend a communication network inside a building, as one of the networks already installed for future use. In our opinion, the idea that each installed system ( alarm, HVAC, access control, light control ) was a system on its own, without the possibility of any simple information exchange, had to be over long since.
Looking around among the alternatives of the moment, Apice decided to adopt the LonWorks network, not just for the high quality technical features, but also for the presence of the LonMark organisation interested in standard applications for the interoperability of different trade-mark devices.
In 1996 Apice launched on the market the first functional products in this kind of technology and attended the european LonWorld exhibition , starting to show off like a company working on this direction, even at international level.
In the following years the company president took part in the foundation of the italian LonUsers group and Apice joined the LonMark and the german LNO group.
At the end of 1999 the market seemed ready to understand the LonWorks products and the invoiced in this field started to increase.
In the meantime, there was still a real commitment for the traditional access control technology and for the visibility on the specialized market , by taking part, as exhibitors, in all coming well known editions of Sicurezza, Smau '99 and 2000, Intel '99 and 2001,Eurobank, Hannover, Light and Building fairs, and others of little importance.
During the last three years the company has started to accomplish another important evolution; thanks to its growing trend, in fact, has achieved an important level where other organizing instruments are needed, both for contingent needs and in view of a future expansion.
Apice is starting to invest in the growing direction not only of the products but also of the internal human resources, availing itself of personnel trainings, selections strategies, and introduction of new resources that lead to our days. |
